Coach Barazzone was a favorite among her students and athletes to whom she gave her all. She believed everyone despite their circumstances or choices deserved an education and opportunity to better themselves. She retired from the Tazewell County school system in 2002 after 43 years of service. Shirley then moved her membership to Gethsemane Baptist church in 1979 where she was very active in the Women’s club, XYZ, Bible school, Sunday school, Hand bell choir and GBC Youth.
